Designed by the end of the Sixties, opened in 1970 under the management of the Jolly Hotels company, it was completely renovated and enlarged in 1997, when the owner family Bambara De Luca resumed the direction of the hotel, deciding to take care of its launch by setting it up under the teaching of three generations of Taormina hoteliers.
Built under the standards of the Seventies, the Diodoro dedicated to the greek historian Diodoro Siculo, overlooks one of the most beautiful bays of the Jonian Coast. “Rosa Verona” italian marbles, large windows, boiseries, furnishings and textiles in golden and purple warm tones, wide panoramic terraces, flowery balconies and a lush private garden to reach the swimming pool in a privileged position, add a magical aurea of beauty to the hotel.
CaratteristicsRoom furnishings are simple and elegant at the same time, with a light brown parquet flooring, embellished by refined textiles whose colours vary from blue to green, from golden to old rose and also, in the majority of rooms wondeful watercolours of the ancient theatre, enhance the splendor of interiors.
The hotel offers an elegant dining room, with its large french windows framed by the trees of a luxuriant mediterranean garden. International and Italian cuisine is served and among special dishes, clients can find traditional sicilian gourmandises. Our excellent selection wines à la Carte was awarded during the fourth edition of the “Carta delle Carte” 2001 as the most qualified regional proposal with a particular attention to the red Etna wines.
Extraordinary buffets are organized both in the main dining room and on the borders of the pool: the Sicilian cuisine in a breathless scenario. Once a week individual guests on halfboard can enjoy the elegant “Candle Light Dinner” and a regional buffet, together with the music of a well-known folkloristic Taormina group.
The Bar “Il Vecchio Carrubo” takes its name from the secular tree overlooking the beautiful terrace opened all summer evenings. It offers an unforgettable atmosphere with the pianobar music of Maestro Sinatra who makes it even more special. Following the seasons, our bar becomes a Wine Bar with wine tasting and appetizers or a Tea Bar with a special selection of 24 types of tea...not to be missed!
Il Picciolo Golf Club, the only 18 holes golf course located on the Vulcan slopes is only 25 km far away and has a special agreement with the Hotel for reductions on green fees and all other services. Special agreement also with the neighbour Tennis Club, with its red soil courts close to public gardens. From the morning to the evening, refreshing drinks and snacks are available at the pool Bar.
The swimming pool is open from 9.00 a.m to 6.00 p.m and it is a small corner of paradise where it is possible to swim and watching at the same time the sea and the outline of the Volcan at sunset.
The Hotel Villa Diodoro has a wonderful fully equipped private beach, reachable with a shuttle bus (fee service) available from May to September. Guests are provided with a free pass in order have access to all beach services. The pebbles beach is at the Lido Caparena, property of the Gais Hotels Group and is only 4 km far from downtown, with a wondeful dark blue sea and white rocks on the right.
