Taormina Congress Centre
The Taormina Congress Centre and auditorium is a municipal infrastructure designed to accommodate up to approximately 1.300 participants – with use of four halls. It enable congresses, conferences, meetings, film festivals, cineclub activities shows, musical and theatrical events – with limited stage sets – to be held throughout the year.
It is situated in the hearth of the historical centre, between the remains of the ancient Forum, in front of the medieval parliamentary building (Palazzo Corvaja) and the way towards the nearby Greek Theatre, The overall covered area of the centre is about 2.000 sq. m., based on more than 9.000 sq. m. of internal flooring, on seven levels (including three below grounds), whilst its volume amounts to some 40.000 cu. m., 30.000 of which above ground.
The centre’s operational facilities include:
- A conference hall with 90 seats;
- A multipurpose hall with 150 seats;
- A theatrical or main hall with about 880 seats , 820 of which in the stalls;
- An auditorium with 220 seats.
The Main Hall and the auditorium are equipped with simultaneous translation cabins and projection booths. The Main Hall also contains a balcony for directing “Sound and light” programmes and mobile partitioning, in order to permit the hall to be divided up into sectors, and the three dimensional movements of a platform for handling cameras and special projection equipment.
