Giuseppe Sinopoli Festival is an important event dedicated to the famous composer and conductor, who died in 2001. A tribute to a man who loved not only music, but also archaeology and art.
Sinopoli was born in Venice on November 2, 1946, but he loved Sicily, his father’s land. Giuseppe Sinopoli studied medicine at the University of Padua, where he obtained his doctorate in 1972, but he had been actively interested in music since the age of 12. Infact he studied music at the Venice Conservatory, parallel to his medical training.
He was given a lectureship in contemporary and electronic music at the Venice Conservatory in 1972, and he perfected his training as a conductor with the celebrated Hans Swarowsky in Vienna. It was the beginning of a wonderful career of composer and conductor, but Sinopoli was also a teacher, a physician and archaeologist.
