A bit of history...
Greeks and Romans - During the 3rd century A.D., a Greek Theatre was erected, throughout history this became known as the monument symbol of the city. In addition, the Odeon and the grand Naumachie are what reside from the Roman domination and testify to the era of Augustus.
Arabs - After the Romans, Taormina was reigned by first the Byzantines and then followed by the Arabs. This made a notable influence on the city, especially on an architectural level. This era left behind the military towers, which became the surroundings for Palazzo Corvaia, constructed during the medieval period and later known as the Parliament Building.
